Visit Moran State Park

Moran State Park is the fourth largest State Park in Washington State and the largest park area in all of San Juan County.  With miles of trails accommodating hikers, mountain bikes, and horses on some trails during particular seasons, this venerable park has delighted locals and visitors on Orcas Island for decades.  Lakeside locations feature many camp sites including beautiful tent grounds down by the water as well as a full set of trailer and RV sites with water, power, and a dumping station.

The tower on the top of Mt Constitution is considered the best view in the San Juan Islands, featuring views of three mountain ranges as well the entire county and parts of the Skagit River Valley.  Moran State Park is one of the San Juan Islands’ great treasures and has drawn visitors from all over the world.  Come to Orcas Island and explore one of the Pacific Northwest’s most beautiful natural wonders!

Washington State Ferry Terminal on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands

The easiest way to get to Moran State Park and Orcas Island is via ferry boat from the Washington State Ferry Terminal in Anacortes, Washington. Reservations are available for all sailings to and from Anacortes; but don’t wait too long to get one!  Reservation processing has been greatly improved, but it’s still a good idea to show up at least 1 hour before the sailing to be sure you can make it through the line in time.  Bring a few snacks and a good book.

Keep an eye on the ferry arrival and departure times to avoid any last minute itinerary changes–particularly from October to May when late night sailings are not an option and the weather becomes more unpredictable. The Washington Department of Transportation website also provides information on schedule changes and travel alerts that could affect sailings.
