Mountain Lake Loop

Mountain Lake Loop circles Moran State Park’s largest lake.  Parking is available at the restrooms or next to the boat launch farther into the camping grounds.  The trail itself is easy with only gentle increases and decreases in elevation; nothing that a quick break wouldn’t fix.  It leads through thick woodlands, rocky hills, and even along tree-lined marshlands for a comprehensive look at Orcas Island’s wild interior.  Stop for a picnic along the shores of the lake.  Take photos next to the spillway on the southern edge of Mountain Lake and see what Mount Constitution looks like from the eastern side.

For more Moran State Park exploration take the Little Summit Trail from the parking area or adventure off into the woods at the north end of Mountain Lake on the Twin Lakes Trail.
